| LUCCA - Beautiful,
lively medieval town on the left of the Serchio river; all enclosed
within its walls, it features many interesting medieval monuments. Most
remarkable are the S. Martino "Duomo", S. Frediano, the Guinigi Palace
(with holm-oaks at the top of its tower), the Pretorio Palace, Manzi Palace.
The Walls, with their trees, are a "unique"; they also offer the opportunity
of a nice 4 - kilometres walk. |

| THE WIND CAVE (La Grotta
del Vento)
- One of the most interesting European caves in one of the most colorful
areas of the Apuane Alps; its huge variety of features makes this cave,
geologically speaking, some sort of "natural encyclopaedia". |

| THE VAGLI LAKE (Il Lago
di Vagli) - Vast and deep, the man-made lake, created after th
end of World War II, is surrounded by a gorgeous natural landscape. Beneath
the surface lies, hidden, the Fabbriche Di Carreggine village, also called
"the ghost village"; it is possible to see it only once every ten years,
when the lake is emptied (next time will be on year 2004). |

| THE ORECCHIELLA PARK
(Parco dell' Orecchiella) - Situated in the Appennini Mountains area,
the Park has always been considered Garfagnana's "wild heart". It features
three natural reservations, called Pania di Corfino, Lamarossa and l'Orecchiella.
Many paths and trailers depart from its Visitor Center for absolutely safe
excursions in the woods. The numerous fauna features deers, roe-deers,
martens, badgers and wolves and also various species of birds including
eagles, hawks, sparrow-hawks, owls etc. |

| THE BOTRI RAVINE (Orrido
di Botri) - Amazing gorge, with calcareous walls deeply hollowed out
by the waters of the Rio Pelago river. Also known as "The Tuscanian Canyon",
the Botri Ravine is situated in a very peculiar natural environment, which
includes 2000 metres - high mountains, with a rich and various flora and
fauna also featuring the Royal Eagle, also the symbol of the Park. |

| THE DEVIL'S BRIDGE
(Il Ponte del Diavolo) - It was built to connect the two sides of the
Serchio River by the confluence with the Lima River. We still don't know
much about this remarkable medieval piece of architecture, so we're not
sure about the year of its construction. Legend has it that "to build this
daring architecture work the Devil's work was necessary, and the Devil
asked in return the soul of the first being who would go across the bridge.
The builder swindled him though, making a pig cross the bridge first". |

| CASTELVECCHIO PASCOLI
- In Castelvecchio, on the Caprona hill, we still can see the house where
poet Giovanni Pascoli lived between 1895 and 1912 with his sister Mriu'.
Pascoli chose that place for its beautiful and quiet green landscapes,
and the sounds of its church bells. He is buried near his beloved sister
in the chapel adiacent to the villa. |

| THE VERSILIA - Renowned
sea tourist region which includes famous places like Viareggio, Lido di
Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi. In just a few kilometres it is possible to reach
the Apuane Alps; from the 'glamorous' beach life to the quiet landscapes
of the mountain in just a moment. |

| THE ABETONE - The
most renowned winter sport station in Central Italy. On the border between
Tuscany and Emilia, it's easily reachable from the Serchio River Valley
(one hour by car). The shiers can find there three cableways, seven chair-lifts,
one "egg" lift, eight "baby" lifts and 18 kilometres ski tracks. |
